A Personal Creed

As a follower of the Teaching of Jesus I seek to walk…

In Love; I believe in the power of love to change my heart and the hearts of everyone I touch. I see love as a powerful way of living my life in connection to the lives of others.

In Forgiveness; I knowledge that if I do not forgive, I will not be forgiven; I believe in the joy, peace, freedom and blessings of forgiving those who have done me wrong, and have harmed me. In praying blessings upon them, and wishing for them only the best this life has to offer.

In Change; knowing that the spirit of the Divine lives in me and changes me from who I am to who God planned me to be, and while that change is inward it must be expressed outwardly. Change means I can be more and more like Christ each and every day of my life and that I can truly be different then the world around me. My walk is to be a positive walk in my desire to help others, I can have an effect on the world. Change helps to rid my life of harmful and negative emotions that destroy relationships with others and my relationship with the Divine.

In Grace; in the pure, love, freedom, power and reaching of grace and not in the prison bindings of law. I trust in the guidance of the spirit and seek the Divine as that guide. I seek to know how to act with others in kindness and with an up-lifted heart and a positive look at everyone. I seek to judge no one, but to love others as Christ loves me. I desire to be an example of my faith in grace and not a teller of how of how others must live their lives.

In Joy: I accept that sometimes situations are out of my control and bad things happen. I accept that when bad things happen, I express my love and joy in the Divine. I understand that this is hard, and I will not always see the joy shared by the Divine, but I trust it is there and I embrace the possibility of joy. I realize that fear lives in the absence of joy, and fear is a negative emotion to be pushed aside.

In Acceptance; in the reality that everyone is a created child of the Divine and I must learn to walk with them with an open and accepting heart. I judge no one, seek no other to judge another or walk in a way that places me above another. I accept people for who they are, and not what I desire them to be – be that acceptance cultural, religious, gender, orientation or any other way created by humanity.

In Service; where I am willing to place the needs of others over my needs, with an open and authentic heart. Where I will be willing to be the servant and serve others with a glad heart and a loving mind. In knowing that no matter the person’s life condition, we are all equal in relationship to the Divine. I am willing to go outside my comfort zone, and into the lives of others.

In Sharing; knowing that all I have can be shared with others; I hold nothing back from those in need because of a selfish motive on my part or a desire for personal gain or fear of personal lose. Where, as a community of faith, we share our food, lives, hearts, shelter, and all we have with those in need.

In Justice: in all forms, as part of our life and walk. I seek economic, civil, cultural, environmental, and governmental justice for all people regardless of who they are. I seek to work for the equal rights of all people [all people] and to seek changes in our world to embrace differences. To see people from the inside, and not judge people from the outside; I do all this in peaceful ways and never cause harm to any person to seek justice for another.
